so i know its been quite some time since i updated
i've been slacking in my craftyness
but with my current photography assignment
i'll be cranking potentially cute baby stuff out the wazoo.
but while you wait to see those things
here are two sets of onesies for two different babies

whole set for lorelai

this dino one is my favorite
not only because i love dinosaurs
but because my cousin desi is autisic (he recieved the dino quilt)
and his family is doing a walk for autism this fall
their "team" is called desi's dinos
and i felt it was only appropriate the wee one has a matched outfit :)

this last one is my favorite from this set
amber (mom-to-be) has it all over her myspace about waiting to meet her princess
as much as it makes me roll my eyes over the "yiddle pwincess"
i couldn't help but deck this onesie out in such a way

i know its been a loooong time since i updated.
but i've finally been getting crafty again.
i'm taking a break from working on a quilt right now
just so i can let y'all know i'm alive and kickin.

i've got some babies to craft for.
amber is due in october.
lisa's baby is five months now.
and i should maybe do something for michelle for maybe christmas
(michelle=zack's sister who has a baby thats a little older than lisa's)
all are baby girls.
which is sooo much easier :P
another cousin of mine is having a boy.
so that will throw some interesting ideas to craft into the mix.
well, time for me to get back to ironing squares.

anyways, heres the stress dresses

this one is for the princess for "princess and the pauper"
it has a crown that goes with it.
plus a shabby looking twin. who wont be an ugly shabby
she'll still be adorable

here we have red riding hood
or in my case, pink riding hood
because the cape that will be used is from a halloween costume
when i was little. and the final photos will be black and white anyways :P

lastly is little bo peep.
who will be completed by three sheep
a crook, and potentially a sign that will say
"have you seen my sheep?
call 888-LBO-PEEP"
i'm going to have whichever twin write it
so that it will look more kid-ish
and now...
bring on the anticipation that these shots will turn out good tomorrow.

i chose the theme "storybook characters"

baby quilt - for a girl

classic pooh fabric
for the future katelyn jayne
the quilt and onsies are finished.
now all i need to do is bead some socks
and package it up.
i got the black and pink quilt sent out today.
as well as a swap package.
i feel so ontop of things

the bias tape binding is a kinda off white
It was called "oyster"
it is also tied with off white embroidery floss
in which i barely had enough of.
the front is all cotton fabrics
whether its broadcloth (solid colors)
or the pooh and piglet balloon fabric.
the recipient is a disney lover
so i found it fitting to use this fabric.
i hope it coordinated with something in their house. haa haa

i've got some more onsies.
this time for a different wee one.
these are for katelyn, who is the future daughter of a gal i used to dance with on fridays for KRI (my dance studio)
she's run off (not literally :P) and got married about two years or so ago
to a navy man, and now they are located in SC
this pregnancy has been a hard one for her
(its her first)
and so i figured i'd send her a little something for the baby.

the two decorated ones

mom to be is a disney lover

all three onsies in the set
the flower one is undecorated, since i didnt want it to become too busy
thar they be.
and to go with it, will be
some beaded socks, a classic pooh quilt
(the fabric is going through the dryer right now)
and possibly a little dress if i get everything going.

so i've been wanting to show this off.
but have no idea what the deal is with my swap partner...
as in whether she recieved it or not.
i'm assuming so, since the DCN says it was delivered the 17th...
so here is my hoodie that i sent for the amazing hoodie swap round 6
lots of pictures, but i made them smaller
so hopefully it will take less time to load

the stars wrap around from the right pocket
swirl across the back
and then spiral down the left arm.
i was so sad i had to send it.
i want one like it now so badly!
the stars are drawn in sharpie
and painted with fabric paint.

for a little set of piggies who will need some warmth

baby stuff

so heres whats going down in my washing machine right now.
i decided to tie dye tonight...
in the freezing garage no less.
so now there are a ton of pairs of socks
plus a onsie in the washing machine.
all being cleaned and what-not
the onsie and a pair of coordinating socks are going to lisa
for her baby shower.
i embellished 4 other onsies, plus the tie dyed ones.
and now i just have to bead some tiny socks by saturday morning.
which should be doable
since i dont work or have school on thursday or friday.
which is nice, let me just say that much.
so she'll have five onsies
and four... maybe five... pairs of beaded socks
(two of the onsies are simaler, one just says i heart my mom
and the other says i heart my dad)
so i have to decided if each get a pair of socks
or if those two onsies just have to share one :P
time to go move stuff to the dryer.
and take a shower :D

will post the onsie sets when all completed

(and even though i dont have a picture,
the pj pants are adorable.
oh, and speaking of pj pants.

and his exact words when he pulled them out of the bag were...
"you've gotta be kidding!"

the dino top is complete!
more complete pictures

its a bit wonky in spots
but overall, i'm very happy with how it looks

and this is what the backing is going to be.
its the same print as the blue dino prints on the front of the quilt
just in large, and polar fleece form
the debate now.
whether to quilt it.
or to tie it with yarn.
any suggestions on the matter

next quilt: a hot pink/black/white baby quilt
for a girl who i used to work with.
and says needs to get used to the color pink
since she's having a baby girl :D

and also find a place to machine quilt it for me.
its getting closer to being done!

i just finished up my part of a disney swap

i've decided so that maybe i use this journal more
i'll do a WIPs (work in progress) update.
and then once i do a final project, i'll post here,
as well as craftgrrl.

so here goes the first one.
this is the start of a railfence quilt for my cousin
who is three and has a love for dinosaurs.
and is also autistic.
our entire family is trying to encourage this like of dinosaurs
and so this is the start of his "dino themed" christmas present from me.
along with the quilt, i'll be making pj pants
and a dino spike sweatshirt inspired by here on craftster
(wont have the inside stencil. and is a premade sweatshirt the spikes will be added on)
but this is for a three year old.
and the sweatshirt is bound to look beyond adorable. :P
pjs will be made out of the same dino print fabric.

and after that, i still have three gameboy cases to make
and something for one of my old coworkers, whos having a baby girl.

almost a month late for halloween,

and the skirt i made
the hat, boot covers, fishnet top and accesories
were all purchased or borrowed.
i dont remember the pattern numbers
but the top was a new look pattern
and the skirt was a simplicity pirate costume.

just a project update

as soon as i get one project done and sent on its way
i crazily started another one.
this time its not just one quilt
but its two
and each block will be embroidered
featuring the artwork from the book "madeline"
the quilts will be going to my 2nd/3rd/4th/5th grade teacher's granddaughters
as hopefully christmas gifts.
i havent embroidered in years
so this will be quite a feat.
basically, 88 embroidered pieces.
luckily they are basically line drawings.
but will have the entire book in quilt form
i was going to originally do each one in a different madeline story
but instead opted for two quilts the same
just different colors (the girls are twins, so makes sense, right :P)
so this should be intense.
and hopefully a project that pays off well in the end.
and works on my embroidery skills

and in the meantime,
trying to back off swaps
which is proving unsuccessful
i guess if i do one swap at a time
thats not as bad as my doing 3 swaps at once.

this swap brought alot of stash busting.
which is good.
the shoe fabric
plus both purple prints were things i had already
same thing with the mug, embroidery floss and pattern.
beware. i went a little IMG heavy :)

me, and my sweetheart at our senior ball.
over a year ago obviously. :P
but still, the best night of my high school life.
and with those, she made

and i made this:

i had to BS the bag putting together.
because, well, i lost the second page of instructions.
so the bag is 89% my sewing (and hope that it works)
and 11% simplicity.
i used pattern #3822 view E
added in the picture
discarded the outside pocket(s)
changed the quilting on it from straight lines to cute squiggles
inside pockets still intact.
fudged the zipper like no other
i may have changed the straps.
but again, i dont know what they were originally supposed to be :P
and it has a piece of that plastic canvas stuff in the bottom
hopefully to keep it more upright.

and a lousy action shot.

oh, and the artwork is printed out on june taylor colorfast sew-in ink jet fabric sheets (a super wonderful creation, might i add)
